This paper is replacing a part of an interview requirement. You are asked to write 350-500 words about why you are seeking the sacrament of Confirmation from the Catholic Church. Please tell me what you want from Confirmation and this process. Confirmation is a sacrament that does not mark an end but rather a beginning. You are taking a final step in your initiation into the Catholic Faith. I am asking you reflect on why you want to take this step into a deeper relationship with Christ and becoming a fully initiated Catholic. Reflect on the reasons you are taking this step and write them out. I am expecting complete sentences and well-thought reasons for why you want to become a fully initiated Catholic.
This study is replacing the other part of the interview requirement. As a part of Confirmation each candidate is invited to choose a new name, a name of a particular Saint. This signifies a change that will take place in him or her. These are common in the Bible. Abram became Abraham, Jacob became Israel, Saul became Paul, and Simon became Peter. With this in mind, I am asking you to choose wisely what you want your Confirmation name to be. This study is also an opportunity for Sponsor and Candidates to grow closer in relationship with each other and God. Sponsors and candidates will have their own sheet to complete individually, after which, the two will meet to talk through the worksheet and pray together. BOTH the Candidate and Sponsor's worksheet is due on the due date.
