This paper is replacing a part of an interview requirement. You are asked to write 350-500 words about why you are seeking the sacrament of Confirmation from the Catholic Church. Please tell me what you want from Confirmation and this process. Confirmation is a sacrament that does not mark an end but rather a beginning. You are taking a final step in your initiation into the Catholic Faith. I am asking you reflect on why you want to take this step into a deeper relationship with Christ and becoming a fully initiated Catholic. Reflect on the reasons you are taking this step and write them out. I am expecting complete sentences and well-thought reasons for why you want to become a fully initiated Catholic.
This paper is replacing the other part of the interview requirement. As a part of Confirmation each candidate is invited to choose a new name, a name of a particular Saint. This signifies a change that will take place in him or her. These are common in the Bible. Abram became Abraham, Jacob became Israel, Saul became Paul, and Simon became Peter. With this in mind, I am asking you to choose wisely what you want your Confirmation name to be. I want you to research a particular saint that has had this name, tell me about them, and why you want them to help you throughout life. The Saints are there for our help and can guide us throughout life. I am asking you to put a little more effort in this, because it is an important part of the process. I am asking for 400-600 words.
